A Trip to the Flower Stand

As I write this it is already March 3! Spring is just a few weeks away, and the beginning of the 2022 Flower Season is in sight. I wanted to write a blog about what coming to the flower stand is like, how to check out, and a few other details for anyone who has never made the trip out but wants to!

Barn Blooms Flower Stand

So, first things first, the stand is located right on the farm where everything is grown. The exact address is 6244 N. Huron Rd Wolcott, NY 14590. This is just off Ridge Rd and the stand is about .25 miles North after you turn. A big landmark to look for is the big red barn that I named the business after! Just after the red barn is a driveway where you can pull in and will see the stand.

A few notes about parking/pulling in. The past two years I have had the stand right at the road. This was so people could see it, and easily stop grab flowers and be on their way. For the 2021 Holiday season I changed the orientation and moved the stand back off the road. I have decided to keep this new location for a few reasons: Easier to pull in and back out of, protects the stand from the elements better, and it gives me more room to work with! So, if you start going down the road and don’t see the stand like usual, don’t fret just pull into the driveway and you will see it. I will make sure to have lots of signage pointing you in the right direction!

Next up is hours of operation. The stand is NOT OPEN EVERYDAY! I repeat not open every day. The stand runs from Mother’s Day weekend (May 6-8) to Mid-October (Oct. 14-16). This year I might have some Easter tulips available early, but this will be a one-day sale. This means the stand is only open FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY. For Monday holidays (Memorial Day and Labor Day) I have the stand open as well. The hours of operation for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are 9am-6pm. I do this for a few reasons, but mainly during the week the flowers are going to my flower subscription members, and on the weekends the flowers go to the flower stand. This breaks up the harvesting and allows for the freshest blooms for the two markets. If you are interested in the flower subscriptions check them out here: 2022 Barn Blooms Subscriptions.

Okay so you know where to go, when to come, and now you need to know what you can purchase! Obviously, flowers are a big part of the flower stand. Fresh flowers are put out throughout the day so that everything is not sitting out in the sun. If you are traveling from far away and want to make sure that there are flowers still available, please message me on social media, email me, or text me and I can let you know what the availability is.

Each week you will see new flowers on the stand. This is the joy of flower farming, it is always changing with new varieties, different colors, and different combinations. You will rarely see the same flowers in back-to-back weeks. This year I am going to be offering two size options at the stand, which means two different price points. Our signature kraft paper sleeved bouquet (which started it all in 2020!) will be available for $15 which includes tax.   Secondly, will be a mason jar arrangement that will be $25 which includes tax.

If you do need an arrangement or bouquet during the week, you can order right on the website: www.barnblooms.com select your pick up time and pick up at the flower stand. Just pull into one of the pickup parking spots, text the number and the flowers will be brought out to you. All arrangements are grower’s choice, meaning whatever is blooming that week, will be used. You cannot make requests on exact flowers. I can try to match colors but cannot guarantee that.

I do have a few other items for sale at the stand for you to check out! Our signature handmade mugs are available for $30/tax included in white, teal, pink, red, and green. These are dishwasher and microwave safe and are just the perfect cozy mug for all your drinks! Also available are Barn Blooms T-shirts, handmade soap, Barn Blooms hats, and flower postcards.

Payment is pretty straight forward. The stand is self-serve. Pick what you would like, tally up your total and pay with cash (right into the cash box), Venmo (@barnblooms), or check. There are two cameras that are always watching the stand. I am notified as soon as there is movement picked up in the field of vision. I have never had a major problem with stealing product, and I hope that I never do but just remember to smile because I do see you!

Some other fun add-ons to check out while you are at the stand: Our flower mural! Last year I had a small mural painted on the side of the barn to take photos with and selfies. This year I am upping my game. The mural will be revamped, spruced up and a selfie stand will be put there so you can set a self-timer on your phone to get the best shots! Also, if you want to sign-up for our email list you can do that at the flower stand clipboard. I send out weekly emails with updates, sales, and the blog posts!

Two new fun things I will be doing this year is a pay it forward board and a customer punch card. The pay it forward board is going to work just like at the coffee shop. You pay for an arrangement but leave the note on the pay it forward board. When someone comes to the stand, maybe doesn’t have the money for flowers, knows someone who needs a pick me up, or had a bad day and needs some self-care they can take your pay it forward note, put it in the cash box and take a flower bouquet. Community is a pillar at Barn Blooms and I think this is a great way to cultivate a world of love in our small little town. The customer punch card is a loyalty program I am going to implement this year as a thank you to my repeat customers! If you buy 15 flower arrangements, you can get the 16th $15 arrangement for free. There will be a little punch with a sign and cards at the stand to grab and start tracking. Yes, this is going to be all on the honor system, but I have faith in my customers and hope you are honest with this!

Okay, I think this is enough information for one post. There are always other little items for sale at the stand, decorations to be scene, and flowers in bloom. If you have any questions feel free to reach out, and I am looking forward to the start of the 2022 season in just a few short weeks!
