Wednesday morning the ladies and I woke up bright and early for a FULL day of talks, workshops, and networking.
I wanted to highlight the ladies that I shared with my Air Bnb with because they all have awesome businesses!
Michelle of Dirt Road Candle Company makes artisan USA soy candles that are all related to her memories of growing up in rural Iowa. She has built a thriving business and was one of the speakers on the third day of the workshop. She ships all over the US, and if you like candles you need to check her out!
Amanda of Evridge Farms raises beef and flowers with her family in Texas. She shares about her life living in Texas, which I find so different and fascinating compared to life in New York. She ships her beef so check her out!
Jessica of Moose Valley Ranch allows people to come enjoy ranch life, have events, and take photos at her family’s property in Washington state. Her ranch is so scenic, and she teams up with other local businesses to offer their products to ranch guests! If you are ever in Washington this would be a great place to camp!
At the workshop we talked about telling your story, website designs, e-commerce platforms, balancing life and work and many other great topics. The Mercantile served us the most wonderful food and it was a full day.
For dinner that night we got a tour of the Woolaroc Museum and listened to Nikki Callison of Callison Ranch Beef tell her story. She shares so much of her wonderful life on her Instagram page. I visited her farm earlier in the week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a touching night with beautiful weather and views.
Thursday, we spent another busy day learning, talking, and exploring all about our businesses and what we can do to take them in the direction we desire. We learned about illustrated, flat lays, and serving community. It is truly my belief that having a business is not enough. You should always be learning, creating, and collaborating. This is what this community was all about, and it was great to be right in the thick of it all week!
We also learned about the movie that is being filmed in Pawhuska called “Killers of the Flower Moon.” It is based on a book written by David Grann. Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro are actors in the film directed by Martin Scorsese. Unfortunately, none of them were in town while we were there. The story follows the awful murders of the Osage people and the start of the FBI in the U.S. I am currently reading the book, and highly recommend it. You can wait to see the film that will be released in 2022 or 2023!
For our last group dinner, we went to the Old Buffalo Ranch. There we were able to take tractor rides through their bison herd and feed them treats. It was a great last night in the wild west with a killer sunset and awesome Sidecar drinks!
