Mulled Apple Cider
If you were on social media this week you may have seen that I made my first batch of Mulled Cider for the season. It may still be 90 degrees and humid here, but I am thinking fall.
Mulled cider is very simple, and you might have all the ingredients around your house. It is steeped apple cider with spices and citrus. It is the perfect drink after a cold day outside and can be made alcoholic with adding your favorite Carmel liquor, yum!
Here is the recipe:
- 8 cups of apple cider
- 1 orange thinly sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 whole star anise
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice berries
- 1 teaspoon of whole cloves
In a large saucepan, bring cider, orange slices, and spices to a boil. Cover and remove from heat. Let steep for at least 20 minutes or up to 4 hours spoon into mugs, leaving some of the large spice and fruit pieces behind.
Eight cups will go pretty quickly if you have people over, but if you do not drink it all in one sitting, I just put the rest in a large thermos to enjoy later.
This fall, any mug orders will receive a recipe card with this Mulled Cider recipe on it. I just do not think it gets any better than a handmade mug with mulled cider in it for the fall season!
